President's Message:

Dear Members and guests,

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a fundraiser for Mitt Romney hosted by his wife, Ann. She was very refreshing and I found it intriguing to hear the process by which their family decided to make the run, again, for President of the United States. She began by telling us it was Mitt, not her, this time around who was hesitant to make the commitment. In the decision process, she said she asked him if he thought our country was too far gone to be saved. He told her it was close but not quite yet. With that thought in mind, she said, “Then Mitt, save our country!”

She felt this was one of the most important elections
since Abraham Lincoln. That we are at a fork in the road and the future of our children is at stake. This is the first generation that may never have the same or more opportunities as their parents.  It was a very nice event and I am thrilled to throw my support to Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States.

BONNIE'S WEEKLY BLOG
ON THE PAST WEEK'S IMPORTANT HAPPENINGS

May 20th, 2012

Where do I begin today?  The week started out a little slow, news wise. I was grabbing bits and pieces of news, here and there, hoping that something really interesting would come along.  About mid week it did.  Stories about President Obama hit the news, and the fun began.

First, the White House Official Website put out a new view of presidential history.  President Obama has been a part of every presidential narrative since Calvin Coolidge.  Commentary tells about it here. The Washington Free Beacon even supplies us with some visual proof in this article.  And, here, on a new website, Obama in History, I found evidence that Obama has been a part of history for a long time.  This ad by American Crossroads, on YouTube, sums things up nicely.

Second, two new biographies of Obama have come out this past week, Barack Obama: The Story by David Maraniss and The Amateur by Edward Klein.

This article in Politico describes the David Maraniss biography, the official one, as a dangerous one for Obama. Why?  Because we’ve only known the narrative Obama has constructed for us in his two memoirs.  The Maraniss book begins to peel back the constructed story to reveal the real Obama. Unfortunately, it only covers Obama’s early life.  The second biography, by Edward Klein, the unofficial one, is reviewed in this American Thinker article.  Both of these biographies sound like must-reads for this election season.

The third item, reported in this Breitbart News article, was a booklet produced by Obama’s literary agent in 1991, stating that Obama was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.  This booklet was used by the agency from 1991 until 2007.  No one seemed to do any fact checking until this news surfaced this week. Then things went into overdrive.  The agency that produced it said it was a fact-checking error by a junior person at the agency, except that the junior person is now the Goderich in the agency Dystel & Goderich.  This article inAmerican Thinker gives us a little more information on that fact-checking error story.  The plot seems to be thickening.

Then there is this: The Composite Man

“For quite a while, Obama has reminded me at least a little bit of the F. Scott Fitzgerald character Jay Gatsby--that is, not in the details, but in the fact of being a self-constructed man.  Obama truly is his own creator.”

This is a quote from Daniel Greenfield’s article which you can read here.

This Composite Man theme is picked up in Roger Kimball’s article in PJ Media and in Mark Steyn’s piece in National Review.

These are both great articles. If you haven’t read Obama’s two books, these articles give you a little insight into them.

Has the vetting of Obama begun?  Will the Main Stream Media finally get on board?  Let’s hope so.

There was a little more in the news this week.  Another vote on raising the US debt ceiling is coming up.  In this article, in ABCNEWS, Speaker Boehner says he will insist on spending cuts and budget reforms to offset the increase.

President Obama’s budget was defeated in the Senate.  You can read about it here in the Washington Times article.

And then there’s Taxmageddon.  Politico has an article on the kinds of tax hikes we will be facing come 2013 if Congress and the President don’t reach an agreement by the end of the year.

Those of you who are NASCAR fans need to take notice of this blog in The Weekly Standard.  We can’t let this happen to America’s fastest growing sport!

I think I may be becoming a horse racing fan.  Yesterday I had to check on the unknown, come-from-behind, Kentucky Derby winner in this week’s Preakness Stakes at Churchill Downs.  I’ll Have Another was the come-from-behind winner again!  There’s just one more race to go for the Triple Crown, The Belmont Stakes in New York in three weeks. I’ll be watching that one too.

We are now coming up on what may prove to be the horse race of our lives this November.  We must do all we can to make sure our horse in this race is the winner!!!

I’m going to take a little time off from my “blogging” for a little travel and family get-togethers.  See you in September.

THE REPUBLICAN CREED:

I BELIEVE, as Lincoln did, that the proper function of the government is to do for the people only those things that have to be done, but cannot be done by individuals.

I BELIEVE faith in the individual is the only true foundation of our national strength.

I BELIEVE that free enterprise and encouragement of the individual incentive have
given this nation an economic system second to none.

I BELIEVE in equal rights and equal justice for all regardless of race, sex,
creed or color.

I BELIEVE we must retain those principles of the past worth, retaining, yet always be receptive of new ideas.

I BELIEVE that in the spirit of international kinship we must help other free nations
defend themselves from aggression when so requested.

FINALLY, I BELIEVE that through the Republican Party these ideals can become action
and through them, America can continue to be the great,
free nation she has always been.
